Project Overview

Iconic bridge in Yiwu Fotang Town

Fotang Town in Yiwu has a history of thousands of years. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was honored as one of the four important towns in Eastern Zhejian . In 2007, it was rated as a famous town of Chinese historical culture.

Fuhu Bridge, an ancient corridor bridge along the Yiwu River,was rebuilt in July 2018 and completed in 2020. 

As an important project to improve the quality of Yiwu town, according to the national historical and cultural town protection plan of Fotang Town, The bridge adopts the theme of water bridge and ancient architectural style, spanning the north sides of Yiwu, creating a landscape bridge integrating Chinese ancient architecture and transportation.

As the overall solution provider of urban smart lighting, ROLEDS is honored to participate in the lighting of Fuhu Bridge, shaping the city image logo with light and shadow, and highlighting the charm of history and culture

Design 

The total length of Fuhu Bridge is 204.8 meters, of which the bridge is 212 meters long and 33.5 meters wide (20 meters is a highway bridge and 10 meters is a pedestrian corridor).

 Through the design of pedestrian rest area, with greening and other facilities, to achieve the separation of people and vehicles, the whole bridge, Fotang Old Street and Wanshan Pontoon Bridge become a scene of Fotang ancient town.

The whole corridor bridge adopts the ancient style of Hui-style, and the physical building is a wooden structure, composed of archway, corridor, octagonal pavilion, etc., among which the carved animals, flowers, birds, insects, fish, qin, chess, calligraphy and painting, are integrated into the historical and cultural allusions of the ancient town, such as Dafu Tiger and Dharma chime.

The lighting of the project fully combines the ancient construction style, aiming to create Yiwu city logo image as the goal to reproduce a classical humanistic picture scroll, highlighting the strong historical charm and cultural atmosphere of Yiwu.

Smart lighting solutions

 The project adopts scattered and orderly lighting techniques. Through reasonable lighting layout and rigorous color temperature control, it creates a clear sense of hierarchy and three-dimensional transparency, and presents the magnificent atmosphere of the covered bridge in 360 degrees

Flying eaves, warped feet, roof ridge... focus on depicting the different details of the bridge body,  reflect the beauty of the texture and structure of the ancient corridor bridge, and restore the ancient charm of Fuhu Bridge.

The lighting design strictly controls light pollution from the viewing of visitors, and creates a leisurely and elegant lighting environment; Ingenious high-quality lamps, harmonious and unified light colors, so that the lamp and the building are integrated.

The light color of the night scene of Fuhu Bridge echoes the reflection of the water, and the lighting atmosphere changes with the shape and echoes the top and down, creating a beautiful scene of the combination of virtual and real.
